tracibrookssexy.jpgTNA Knockout Traci Brooks was the special guest on Thursday’s Monday Night Mayhem. The Big Mosh, Blade and DFL host the show which can be heard live and in streaming audio every Monday night at 8pm ET/ 7PM CT.

Traci’s return to The Mayhem is available for free in Windows Streaming Media.

Traci was welcomed back to The Mayhem by the hosts, Mosh, Blade and DFL. Mosh pointed out Traci hasn’t been on the show in over two years. Traci jokingly replied that “you have to want me. I have to keep you on your toes.”

Traci will be “going home” next month for TNA’s No Surrender spectacular in Toronto, but she is heading “north of the border” a little bit sooner than that. Traci was very excited about her involvement in the Blood, Sweat, & Ears (official website: www.BloodSweatAndEars.com) cross-Canada promotional tour, in support of The United Way. She loves the fact that TNA stars such as herself, Gail Kim, Angelina Love, & Taylor Wilde have trained there, talent such as “The War Machine” Rhino & Robert Roode have worked there multiple times, & that someone such as “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage comes back to help out/train with the BSE roster. She strongly believes that is a credit to them as a solid promotion. Traci appreciates the fact that they are a great organization and federation, and did point out that Kurt Angle’s only non-TNA, Indy promotion that he has worked for to this point in time has been Blood, Sweat, & Ears. BloodSweatAndEars (BSE) events all August will be benefiting a great cause: The United Way Of Canada. Check to see if BSE will be performing in you area by checking out their website!

Last Sunday night saw TNA make its Pay-Per-View debut in “The Garden State” of New Jersey for Hard Justice. Traci is very appreciative of the fans that came out live, and supported her & the rest do the roster…especially the Knockouts during the six-women’s tag team match (ODB, Gail Kim, & Taylor Wilde vs. The Beautiful People & Awesome Kong), which she had the chance to referee. Besides the house show last December in Oshawa, she does not remember a crowd that was so into a show. From bell-to-bell, the fans were rabid, and loved what they were seeing. Traci also gave all the credit in the world to “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles & Kurt Angle, as well as Booker T & “The Samoan Submission Machine,” Samoa Joe for tearing the house down.

Traci feels that the Knockouts division continues to improve by leaps & bounds, and has done so since its inception into the company. The highest-rated segments on “iMPACT” are those of the Knockouts, so Traci wished to point that out as their own “report card” of sorts for those who still are not giving the girls a fair chance, as well as the “armchair quarterbacks” of TNA. She also wished to add that the Knockouts are all unique & different, and she credits the girls for working well together to this point in time. “We all want the business to do well…not ourselves.”

She is very thankful that women’s wrestling has come a long way, and that not only have the TNA Knockouts had tremendous success, but the WWE Divas. As many fans know, Beth Phoenix trained with both Gail Kim & Traci, and Traci feels that “The Glamazon” has done great work in the WWE, along with Natalya (who she described as “an excellent edition”), Melina, Mickie James, & even Kelly Kelly has come a long way. Traci wished to go on record saying she is not knocking their division at all, and in fact, does follow their product.

Traci is stoked to say the least about TNA’s first-ever PPV in Canada, No Surrender, to The General Motors Centre. She said that a large portion of TNA’s roster is Canadian, and that the rest of the roster that comes from America’s neighbor to the north is as excited as she is. Traci describes the fans in that area as “respectful,” and that they do not take TNA for granted. “They are there to enjoy the show and have a great time.” One thing Traci does get slightly upset at are those people who go to a wrestling event, spend their money, and “sit on their hands.” If you do that, “that makes you a moron.” She also added that Chicago fans, just like fans from the Toronto area love women’s wrestling, and is very much looking forward to Bound For Glory IV in “The Windy City” in October.

Many fans of TNA Wrestling have learned about the rumors that are swirling around about former WWE Champion, former SmackDown color-commentator, & best-selling author, Mick Foley, possibly headed to TNA in mere weeks. Traci wanted to take her time on The Mayhem to address those rumors, and the possibilities of not only “The Hardcore Legend” coming to TNA, but possibly “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. “That would be awesome. I am big fans of both of them. But right now, everyone has to concentrate on watching the talent we have right now, and the talent that has brought us to this point right now to want Mick Foley & Ric to come to us to sign.”

Olympic Womens Wrestling Results 72kg

beijing-olympic-2008.jpg(Beijing, August 17) — This biggest upset today was the defeat of Japanese medal hopeful Hamaguchi Kyoko in the 72kg semifinal. Hamaguchi was also favored to win gold four yeas ago in Athens, but was knocked out in the semifinal by China’s Wang Xu who eventually won the gold. This time she lost to another Chinese wrestler, the eventual 72kg gold medalist, 20-year-old Wang Jiao.

After winning the bronze medal in the repechage round, Hamaguchi said, “I am happy, happier than I was in Athens. Today, I tried to convince myself ‘you will win’. The pressure I was under has disappeared. This match was one of the best in my competitive career. The four years of hard-work have paid off.”

The other 72kg bronze medalist was Agnieszka Wieszczek of Poland.

Champion Wang Jiao’s best senior performance before this gold was fifth place in the 2005 World Championship when she was just 17, and her opponent in the final was 25-year-old reigning world champion Stanka Zlateva of Bulgaria. Wang’s gold win over Zlateva was as shocking as her win over Hamaguchi earlier in the semifinal, especially since Wang dramatically took the victory by fall before the two-minute mark.

“It is my great honor to win this gold medal for China,” Wang said after the medal ceremony. “This is such a surprising victory. I thought about it before but I didn’t expect it to come so early. I can say that this final was tough, but I can also say I won it easily. I haven’t attended very many international competitions so I just competed like I would against any other opponent. I was relaxed, so I won.”

Olympic Women Wrestling Results 63kg

beijing-olympic-emblemb.jpg(Beijing, August 17) — Women’s Freestyle Wrestling 63 kilogram defending champion Icho Kaori of Japan cried on Saturday after her older sister, Icho Chiharu, lost in the 48kg final. A day later, she put on a tremendous performance to retain her title and defend the gold associations with the Icho family and Japanese wrestling, on Sunday, August 17.

Icho’s opponent in the final was Russia’s Alena Kartashova, another elite wrestler in this weight class. They wrestled a close bout in Athens, which Icho won comfortably. Icho dominates the world, winning three World Championships in a row. Kartashova is the best in Europe, winning the 2006 and 2008 European Championships and taking home a silver medal at the 2007 European Championships.

In the first period of this final, both wrestlers operated conservatively and ended the first two minutes scoreless. Kartashova was given the chance to attack in the 30-second clinch but couldn’t prevail, giving Icho this period 1-0. The second period started with another scoreless first two minutes, and this time, Icho was chosen as the attacker in the clinch. In just four seconds, Icho took Kartashova down and won the period 2-0.

With this gold medal, Japan has won two gold medals and one silver from Women’s Wrestling at the Beijing Games. The Icho sisters contributed one gold and one silver.
